Islamabad The opposition in National Assembly has protested against the current price hike of petroleum products.
It is revealed in National Assembly that government is receiving over 80 % tax on petroleum products.
On which, Rana Afzal Khan said that there is no doubt that the prices of commodities of life would be increased after price hike in petroleum products. The incumbent government has reduced the prices of petroleum products from Rs 113 to Rs 68 and price hike has controlled with the attempts of government and inflation rate has reduced upto 4 %.
“80% kerosene oil is being used in industry and its consumption has increased across the globe which would be reduced in few months. After this oil prices will be reduced”, he added.
He said that prime reason of difference of prices between diesel and petrol is that there is no tax on transport industry.
Parliamentary Secretary Cabinet Division Raja Javed Akhlas said that OGRA had suggested 31 % increase in the prices of petroleum products but PM has rejected this proposal and give 4.2 billion subsidy on petroleum products.
Member National Assembly Naveed Qamar said that government is betraying the people adding that in International market, prices of petroleum products have increased, when the prices have reduced as the government has enhanced the sales tax on it.
He said that former Finance Minister had told the house that when prices would be increased the sales tax would be brought at the level of 15 % but the government has not reduced the sales tax so far.
Jamshed Dasti said that farmers are in vulnerable condition as there is severe shortage of water in rivers. Farmers have only one option that is “Diesel” which prices are sky rocketing.
He demanded of the government to reduce the prices of the petroleum products to facilitate the farmer community of the country.
Sahabzada Tariq-ul-llah said that prices of petroleum products have been increased some seven times during the past six months. Government wants to give message to people that economic condition of the country has worsened after the former Premier Nawaz Sharif to get political benefit in upcoming general elections.
Aysha Gulalai said the current price hike in the prices of petroleum products is severe injustice with people as the prices of everything will be increased.
Asia Nasir said that inflation would be increased with the price hike of petroleum products and demanded of the government to reduce the sales tax on petroleum products.
Amir Dogar said that government has fallen the petrol bomb on the people adding that during the last six months prices of diesel were increased over Rs 30 and prices of petrol over Rs 20.
