NAB chief not happy with performance in references against Sharif family

Islamabad, : The National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, while expressing dissatisfaction over performance of the prosecution team, has formed a five-member committee to assess its performance and to give recommendations.
The sources at the NAB office said that the NAB chief was not happy with the up till now performance of the prosecution team in the references against the Sharif family, adding the seven-member investigation team could not submit solid evidences against Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
Due to their unsatisfactory performance, the NAB had to file many sub-references and due which, decisions in the under trial references are taking time.
The five-member team under the supervision Deputy Prosecutor General Imranul Haq will assess the performance of the prosecution team and will give its recommendations to the NAB chairman directly, so that the weakness of the team can be improved.
The source further said that some members of the probing team also visited London to collect evidences against the Sharif family but it could not collect solid proofs against it.
Now, when the Sharif family has decided to bring its witnesses, there is a need to activate the NAB investigation team in order to give proper response to the references.
The source added that the prosecution team’s visit to London was without NAB headquarters’ permission, adding that the team had visited abroad with the permission of NAB DG Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi and the headquarters is not happy with that decision.
No other than the NAB headquarters’ permitted team would be able to visit abroad in the future, the source said.
