Islamabad, (TLTP): Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry claimed that performance of recently transferred inspector general of police Islamabad Jan Muhammad was in question, however, the government will bow before the Supreme Court which has taken suo motu notice over the transfer orders.
Speaking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Tuesday Fawad Chaudhry commented a day after the Supreme Court suspended notification regarding transfer of Islamabad IGP after knowing that the transfer was made on verbal orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Fawad Chaudhry claimed that Jan Muhammad failed to take measures against complaint of receiving bribery in police stations and check posts as well as widespread use of drugs in the capital’s schools saying every inspector general of police is answerable to Prime Minister and Chief Ministers who can exercise executive powers so every bureaucrat would have to realize that he is answerable to the Executive.
Responding to a question whether Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azim Khan Swati was behind transfer of the IGP, Fawad Chaudhry said that he will not comment on veracity of such reports.
Fawad Chaudhry told that Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi had been trying to contact the IG Islamabad about the extensive use of crystal meth in educational institutions of the capital and complaints of receiving bribery in police stations and check posts.
Chaudhry said that over failure of Muhammad Jan to respond the minister’s repeated phone calls and after several complaints, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the concerned authorities for IGP transfer.
Chaudhry asserted that it will not acceptable that chief secretaries and IGPs do not respond the ministers phone call saying a narrative is being spread that if officers do not receive phone calls they will become heroes. Terming the transfer as a routine matter Fawad Chuahdry said that during their rule in KPK, police officers were transferred in response to complaints.
Commenting over All Parties Conference (APC) which is scheduled on October 31, Fawad Chaudhry said he is unable to comprehend the point of APC saying , “whether it is being held to seek the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)”.
However, at the same time he was of the view that no matter what happens, there would be no NRO.
To a question, Fawad Chaudhry responded, “ If we make Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee then would it be possible to hold meetings in the jail”.
Taking a hit at former premier Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhry said that Nawaz Sharif political career was just to come to meet people at the Parliament House, adding that the opposition has no clean people.
“The Sharif brothers and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari do not want cases to be opened against them, however, PM Imran has said there will be no NRO,” Chaudhry said.
