COAS endorses awarding sentence to senior army officers and a civilian over espionage

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Thursday endorsed capital punishment and imprisonment to two army and one civil officer on the charges of espionage/ leakage of sensitive information to foreign agencies prejudice to the national security in Rawalpindi, stated in the ISPR press release.

According to the ISPR, as many as three officers were tried under Pakistan Army Act (PAA) and Official Secret Act by separate Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for separate cases.

Retired Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal was awarded a term of 14 years rigorous imprisonment, retired
Brigadier Raja Rizwan and doctor Wasim Akram (Employed at Sensitive Organization) have been awarded death sentence.
