Recently formed inmates aid committee’s Chairman Barrister Syed Ali Zafar will deliberate over legal and financial aspects of cases relating to prisoners in the jails of Pakistan on August 09.
While forming ‘Prime Minister’s Prisoners Aid Committee’ (PPAC) on August 05, Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed veteran lawyer Barrister Syed Ali Zafar as Chairman of the Committee. Barrister Syed Ali Zafar also remained President Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan and ex-Federal Minister of Law & Justice Division, Information & Broadcasting Division, Energy (Water & Power), Culture & Heritage and Parliamentary Affairs.
In meeting of the Committee on August 09 at Islamabad, all the Home Secretaries will make presentations on how to formulate financial assistance to the prisoners through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, philanthropists and non-governmental organizations.
The agenda of the meeting also includes prison/parole/probation reforms, use of remission/commutations/pardons for prisoners, suggestions on amendments in bail provisions, looking at the existing structure of rehabilitation centers and re-examination of data related to prisoners with possible solution to expedite their cases.
