IHC MIT expresses satifaction over Capital District Judiciary performance

While examining administration of justice process in subordinate courts of the Capital, Member Inspection Team of Islamabad High court Tahir Mehmood Khan expressed satisfaction over district judiciary performance.

During the inspection Member Inspection Team (MIT) Tahir Mehmood Khan visited more than 50 courts and checked attendance of the judicial officers. During the visit ninety percent of judicial officers were performing duties efficiently while conducting adjudications in various civil and criminal matters. As per record he found 10 percent presiding officers were on leave due to personal engagements and illness.

Islamabad High Court administration has appointed Tahir Mehmood Khan as MIT during this July, who was serving as District & Session Judge District Court (West), Islamabad.

It is pertinent to mention that the MIT of the IHC is mandated to evaluate, supervise and monitor the performance of district judiciary under the aegis of high courts in pursuance to Article 203 of the Constitution.

The MIT monitors weekly, fortnightly, monthly and quarterly institution, disposal and performance of subordinate judiciary besides taking measure the performance of judicial officers in specific and subordinate judiciary in general as well as para-legal staff, process server agencies etc.

The MIT is authorized to inspect the sub-ordinate courts at random and/or on the direction of the IHC Chief Justice/Inspection Judges. In addition to inspect the courts he also examines the notes of Jail inspections that District & Sessions Judges conducts in their respective Sessions Division & Civil District. After examining the notes the MIT used to forward the same to the IHC’s Chief Justice with appropriate proposals including taking of actions.

The MIT is competent to redress the grievances of the public relating to delays, obstacles and irregularities in the disposal of the cases by the subordinate courts as well as the grievances of the public arising due to illegalities, high-handedness, violation of rules and regulations by the concerned official functionaries with the approval of the Chief Justice.
