LHC issues notices in plea seeking adequate medical facilities in hospitals

Expressing grave concern over state of affairs in the health sector and strike culture among doctors in Punjab on Thursday Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court observed medical profession has nothing to do with politics and protest as they have taken oath to serve the humanity.

A single-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) comprising Justice Shahid Karim observed saying the doctors involved in the strikes should be transferred to far flung area of the province.  

On behalf a young doctor, Advocate Azhar Siddique has invoked the LHC jurisdiction over inadequate medical facilities and free medicines in emergency wards of public and private hospitals in the province.

Advocate Siddique contended that there was a steroidi online shortage of doctors in hospitals besides lack of other medical facilities for the patients visiting the emergency wards especially.

The counsel urged the court directives to provincial government for provision of satisfactory facilities at both public and private hospitals in Punjab.

After a brief hearing, the bench sought comprehensive report from Punjab Healthcare Commission in the matter in addition to details of medical test charges the hospitals were charging from patients in hospitals. Later hearing of the matter was adjourned till January 19,2023.
