Human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari who is daughter of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister for human rights Dr Shireen Mazari Thursday invoked Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench, challenging  her mother’s detention orders.

Mazari was first arrested on May 12 under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), however, Islamabad High Court granted her post-arrest bail on May 14 but Punjab police arrested her while she left Adiala Jail two days ago.

Invoking the high court jurisdiction, Imaan Mazari termed the arrest of her mother as sheer violation of the Islamabad High Court directives and urged the court to declare Shireen Mazari’s arrest illegal and a violation of human rights.

Seeking the LHC orders in the matter, Imaan Mizari urged the court to issue directives to the concerned authorities to release Shireen Mazari from prison, adding she requested the court to grant her access to her mother for medical facilities and legal representation till adjudication of the petition.

It is pertinent to mention that former human rights minister Shireen Mazari was apprehended again on Wednesday soon after being released from jail on the orders of the IHC. She was detained under MPO and transferred to Adiala Jail.
