Doomsday – At least 43 killed, 80 injured in blast targeting JUI-F workers’ convention in Bajaur

BAJAUR – At least 43 people were killed and 80 others suffered injuries on Sunday in a suicide blast targeting the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) workers’ convention in Bajaur’s Khar area.
JUI-F Khar Tehsil chief Maulana Ziaullah Jan was also killed in the attack. Bajaur District Health Officer Faisal Kamal said that more than 80 injured had been brought to Bajaur District Headquarters Hospital, while those in critical condition were being shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
He said hospitals across Bajaur and neighbouring areas had been put on high alert. “We are trying to move critical patients to Peshawar and other hospitals through helicopters.”
KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali said two army helicopter had been sent to Bajaur for the transfer of injured people. So far 12 seriously injured individuals have been airlifted to Peshawar in two army helicopters.
MNA Jamaluddin and former senator Abdur Rasheed were also present at the JUI-F workers’ convention when the blast occurred. JUI-F provincial spokesperson Jalil Jan confirmed that Jamaluddin was safe after the blast.
Condemnations 
President Dr Arif Alvi, PM Shehbaz Sharif and other eminent political figures including JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Asif Ali Zardari, FM Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, QWP chief Aftab Sherpao condemned the attack on the JUI-F workers’ convention.

President Dr Arif Alvi prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
-PM Shehbaz –
PM Shehbaz Sharif also condoled with JUI-F supremo Fazlur Rehman. He also directed the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.
The premier expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the JUI-F officials and workers.
He said, “The terrorists killed those who spoke about Islam, the Quran, and Pakistan”.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned the attack on his party’s convention in Bajaur. He urged the prime minister and KP chief minister to initiate an inquiry into the matter.
He prayed for the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of the injured party workers.
The JUI-F chief directed his party workers to remain peaceful and ensure blood donations to the injured by reaching the hospital.
He urged the federal and provincial governments to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.

JUI-F general secretary Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri condemned the blast. “A blast targeting a public gathering is well-planned to create unrest in the country. We have always done politics of peace,” he added.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari condemned the blast that targeted the workers’ convention of JUI-F.
Expressing his grief and sorrow, Bhutto-Zardari vowed to bring those responsible for the blast to justice. He further said that there was an urgent need to get rid of those preparing for terrorism.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari said: “The terrorists are everyone’s enemy. The entire country must be freed from the terrorism’s breeding grounds, just as Swat.”
– MQM-P –
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) condemned the attack on the JUI-F workers’ convention.
MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui condemned the Bajaur blast, saying, “The terrorists involved in the blast should be brought to justice”.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori condemned the blast, saying, “The morale of the people will not be dampened by such cowardly incidents.”
Tessori further said that the entire nation is united to end the scourge of terrorism.

The PTI Karachi chapter condemned the blast that targeted the JUI (F) workers’ convention. The party urged the local government to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.
