UK Biochemist Farooq Ali Murder Case: Session Court Summons Owner of Ramada Hotel and 14 others

Commencing judicial inquiry of UK national Biochemist Farooq Ali alleged murder who found dead during March last year in Ramada Hotel Islamabad, Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad (West) Sikandar Khan has issued notices to owner of the hotel and fourteen others to appear before the court in the matter.

Complainant Dr Rehiana B. Ali, sister of Farooq Ali says her brother has been living in Ramada by Wyndham hotel, Club Road, Islamabad since May 2021, adding, “We believe he was murdered on 11th or early hours of 12th March 2022. His body, however, was only ‘discovered’ on 16th March 2022. Farooq’s heirs claimed it was a brutal premeditated murder saying a fair trial will disclose names behind the heinous crime.

A veteran criminal lawyer Advocate Sharafat A Chaudhry is the counsel for Dr. Rehiana B. Ali in the matter. At first stage he sought Sessions Judge orders for registration of First Information Report (FIR). The petitioner has alleged the police failed to conduct proper investigation saying no arrest of nominated accused persons was made and resultantly no evidence had been collected in the matter properly.

Advocate Sharafat also filed a private complaint for judicial inquiry into murder but the Additional Session Judge Sipra dismissed the complaint on October 22. Over dismissal of the private complaint, Sharafat A Chaudhry invoked jurisdiction of the Islamabad High Court IHC and filed criminal revision against impugned order of Additional Session Judge. He urged the IHC to set aside the session judge dismissal and issue directives to the Sessions Court for judicial inquiry into the death which will summon the accused persons in the large interest of justice. Talking to TLTP, Sharafat A Chaudhry informed on Wednesday saying after acceptance of his revision plea the IHC court has sent back the case to Islamabad Sessions Court for judicial inquiry of the matter. After hearing arguments of Advocate Sharafat A Chaudhry the Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad Sikandar Khan decided to summon the respondents who have been made party in the private complaint including three police officials.
