LAHORE – In response to plea seeking contempt proceedings against chief of the top accountability watchdog in Pakistan on Wednesday, Lahore High Court (LHC) issued directrives to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to appear in person on September 15 in the matter directing him to appear with coplete record related to the case.
A two-member bench, led by LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum issued the directives after a brief hearing of the contempt petition that Advocate Ahsan Abid had filed. The petitioner claimed that Khusro Bakhtiar and Hashim Jawan Bakht had amassed illegal assets. He claimed that despite his request for an inquiry and a subsequent court order, the NAB failed to act on his complaint against them. Abid requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the NAB chairman for defying the court’s order.
