ISLAMABAD – The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), in collaboration with the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), hosted a session on “Competition Law in the Context of Changing Economic and Digital Landscape.” Held at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium on the IIUI campus, the event was part of CCP’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about fair market practices.
The CCP delegation was led by Salman Amin, Member of the CCP. He was joined by Marryum Pervaiz, Secretary to the Commission/HOD Advocacy; Maliha Qudus, Deputy HOD Cartels & Trade Abuse; and Noman Ahmed, Assistant Director Mergers & Acquisitions. Representing the IIUI, the session was attended by Dr. Zia ul Haq, Director General IRI and Dean, and Dr. H Ghufran Ahmad, Director Students Affairs.

During the session, the CCP officials discussed the increasing challenges of regulating markets in the digital economy. The discussion highlighted the vital role competition law plays in preventing cartels, monopolies, and deceptive marketing, while also ensuring that innovation and investment can thrive.
Mr. Amin noted that the CCP is focused on creating a level playing field for Pakistani businesses and that educating future professionals is essential for building a culture of legal compliance. IIUI faculty members praised the initiative and stressed the importance of connecting legal education with real-world regulatory issues. The university committed to future collaborations with the CCP on research and knowledge-sharing. The event wrapped up with a Q&A session where students engaged with the CCP delegation on topics such as mergers, digital platforms, cartels, and consumer protection.
