NA Panel Hails PBM’s Extensive Humanitarian Response to Flood Crisis

ISLAMABAD – The Standing Committee of National Assembly has lauded Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) for its significant and selfless humanitarian efforts, particularly in providing aid to flood-affected communities across the country. The commendation followed a comprehensive presentation by PBM’s Director General, Dr. Zeeshan Danish, before the committee.

Meer Ghulam Ali Talpur chaired the Standing Committee and acknowledged the pivotal role of the PBM , despite its constraints in mandate and resources. The committee specifically highlighted the exemplary, unconditional efforts led by Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt.

PBM’s contributions to the relief operations were detailed, including the distribution of approximately as many as 80,000 packs of cooked meals, deployment of 15 large vehicles for relief operations, and successful rescue operations for both humans and animals. The organization’s support extended to providing crucial items such as ration bags, medicine boxes, and clothing. Furthermore, the committee noted PBM’s recent plans to distribute 200,000 kg of dates and essential animal feed. Beyond the flood relief, the National Assembly body also recognized PBM’s ongoing support in the critical sectors of healthcare and education, notably for cancer patients and disadvantaged university students.

Increased Funding Approved

Impressed by the organization’s transparent dedication and far-reaching impact, the Standing Committee unanimously agreed to facilitate an increase in PBM’s funding. The committee subsequently instructed Managing Director Capt. Butt to submit a detailed summary outlining the increased requirements necessary to effectively support vulnerable communities nationwide.

In his response, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt expressed profound gratitude to the Standing Committee for their appreciation and support. He reaffirmed PBM’s commitment to upholding a fair and completely transparent system, vowing to ensure that maximum possible assistance continues to reach the needy and poor populations of Pakistan.

This parliamentary endorsement is a testament to the dedication and sincere efforts of the PBM team under Capt. Butt’s leadership, signaling the organization’s enhanced potential to deliver a greater impact with the promise of increased resources.
