ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, judicial officers from across Pakistan, currently participating in the Judicial Fellowship Programme, called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan in a meeting centered on judicial reforms, professional development, and institutional cooperation.

Dr. Shahid Hussain Kamboyo, Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court of Pakistan stated in a press release that the Fellowship Programme, being conducted under the auspices of the Sindh Judicial Academy in collaboration with the Research Society of International Law (RSIL), brings together judicial officers from different provinces as part of a broader effort to promote judicial excellence nationwide.

It has been stated that the programme was launched in furtherance of the Chief Justice’s reform vision, which places emphasis on cross-provincial collaboration, professional capacity-building, research-based learning, judicial well-being, and exposure to diverse judicial practices.

The participating officers used the occasion to interact directly with the Chief Justice and gain insight into the judiciary’s ongoing institutional priorities. Speaking to the delegation, the Chief Justice appreciated the initiative, observing that programmes of this nature foster institutional cohesion, facilitate the exchange of best practices among judicial officers from different regions, and strengthen their professional capacity.

He underscored that continuous judicial education, coupled with sustained inter-provincial engagement, remains vital to enhancing the quality, consistency, and credibility of the justice system as a whole. The Chief Justice went on to brief the participants in detail on the judiciary’s wider reform agenda, which is aimed at building a justice system that is citizen-centric, technology-enabled, transparent, and efficient.

He highlighted several initiatives currently being implemented under the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC), informing the delegation that district courts across the country are being equipped with a range of upgrades.

These include solar energy systems to ensure reliable power supply, e-libraries to support legal research, dependable internet connectivity, clean drinking water facilities, and dedicated safe spaces for women litigants. This infrastructure development is being carried out through the Access to Justice Development Fund, with the Chief Justice noting that completion of these upgrades is targeted for August 2026.

In addition, the Chief Justice informed the delegation about the Gender-Responsive Justice Initiative 2027, which is expected to expand the network of Women Facilitation Centres across the country. The initiative is intended to ensure that women court users have access to services that are accessible, well-integrated, and delivered with dignity.

The interaction concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, during which the Chief Justice responded to a range of queries raised by the participating judicial officers. In his closing remarks, he encouraged them to remain committed to the principles of innovation, integrity, and service-oriented justice as they continue in their judicial careers.
