ISLAMABAD, (TLTP): Former senior civil judge Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and member Supreme Court Bar Association Ashraf Qureshi urged the top court to include Kashmir in proceedings of recently taken suo-motu over COVID-19.
Appearing before a five-member larger bench of the apex court, led by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on April 13 in the matter, Qureshi the other day urged to include Kashmir in the purview of suo motu proceedings.
After hearing Qureshi, the Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed asked Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan to coordinate with him over the issue.
The AGP told Qureshi that due to constitutional limits his contention cannot be entertained. Qureshi argued AJK has the same status in the constitution as Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and must be treated at par with GB that is included in the present suo motu on COVID 19. However, the AGP did not agree once the proceedings were over for the day.
