BHC Celebrates King Charles III’s Birthday with ‘Four Nations’ Theme, Underscoring Strong UK-Pakistan Ties

ISLAMABAD – The British High Commission in Islamabad marked the 77th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III with a vibrant celebration, hosting a reception that highlighted the cultural richness of the UK’s ‘Four Nations’ and the deepening partnership with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, to welcome guests at the event. The celebration followed a significant year for the UK-Pakistan relationship, characterized by enhanced connectivity and trade. Key developments included the lifting of the air safety ban on Pakistani airlines, which saw PIA’s first flight to Manchester in five years. Furthermore, the UK’s introduction of eVisas for students and workers has been instrumental in facilitating travel and strengthening the bond between the two nations.

Pertinently mention that the year 2025 was marked by a major economic milestone as bilateral trade reached £5.5 billion, crossing the £5 billion mark for the first time. The UK also continued its crucial support for Pakistan’s flood recovery efforts. New avenues for economic cooperation were established with the launch of the UK–Pakistan Trade Dialogue, focusing on opportunities in services and innovation.

On the occasion, the British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE emphasized the importance of diversity in the partnership, stating: “Just as Pakistan is made up of rich and diverse cultures, the UK has incredible diversity through its four nations. And all four of our nations- England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales- have a vital part to play in our partnership with Pakistan.”

The cultural connections were celebrated throughout the evening. Guests were greeted by the music of Bagpipers from the Pakistani Military, setting a unique tone. The event concluded with a special performance by Maria Unera, who performed a medley of classic British hits representing the music of the four nations.
