CJP administers oath to Justice Naqvi as SC judge on Monday

Islamabad, (TLTP) : Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed will administer oath of the office to Justice Sayyed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, as Judge of the top court on Monday.

Spokesperson Shahid Hussain Kamboyo said in a statement on Saturday that oath ceremony will take place in Ceremonial Hall Supreme Court Islamabad before commencing adjudications in benches on Monday.

On March 12, the parliamentary committee on judges appointment unanimously has approved the nomination of Lahore High Court Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi for Supreme Court judge.

Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi hailing from Gujranwala, was elevated to the Bench on 19th February 2010 at the Lahore High Court, Lahore. He has been a practicing Advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and at the High Courts since 2001 and 1988, respectively. His area of practice and consultancy covered Criminal Law, Anti-Terrorism Law, Constitutional law, Arbitration (ADR), Property law, Land Acquisition, Land Revenue, Family law, Customs, Excise, Income Tax, Insurance, Finance, Intellectual Property and Public Interest Litigation, Energy, Social Sector Development, Empowerment of the Civil Society, Legal Education and Reform, Transparency, Devolution, Legal & Judicial Reform and Not-for-Profit Laws. The focus of his legal practice has been pro-poor and pro-development. Besides a complete professional, his Lordship has vast interest in the sports and has been the regular member of Cricket Team right from schooling up to University Level.
