IHC steps in to help stop COVID-19 spread in capital courts

ISLAMABAD, (TLTP): A day after the top court has taken measures to prevent coronavirus spread in the Supreme Court, district & session judges of the capital have been asked to take all necessary steps to minimise danger of the virus in courts.

While taking measures to remain safe from Covid-19 pandemic on Sunday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) asked the subordinate court to operate with bare minimum duty judges and staff on rotation. Besides, the district & session judges have also been asked to issue orders accordingly, and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of all concerned.

“It is preferred that the officers drive the vehicles themselves, all the female staff have been advised to stay at home”, stated in a circular of the IHC administration.

In another circular issued on Sunday, in the present spate of Coronavirus pandemic, the IHC administration has decided to close mosque in the court premises till further orders saying since there has been increase in the number of pandemic cases which is likely to have devastating effects on human lives.

“Hence, it is mandatory to take all possible measures to contain the further spread of Coronavirus as a top priority. In order t prevent danger to human life, the competent authority has directed that the high court mosque will remain close till further orders”, the IHC administration said.

Earlier on March 21, in a bid to prevent coronavirus spread the top court advised its quinquagenarian employees to work from home except essential staff whereas all the female staff have been directed to stay at home.
