Incumbent President of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) Jahangir Aslam after consensus with members has decided to hold the upcoming election of the body on January 30.
He expressed after chairing a meeting of the body that during the session he has earned the trust of body members about new membership amid discussion over aspiring body members. He said that the body has also decided to conduct annual elections of the beat reporters of Islamabad Accountability Court on January 30.
Dispelling the impression that elections schedule pronouncement is prerogative of a group, President Jahangir Aslam expressed that after consultation with every member of the body upcoming elections are being held.
Meanwhile, expressing grave concern over the recent brutal incident of inflicting torture on a private television cameraman Nasir Mughal outside the premises of Accountability Court Islamabad terming it deplorable act of violence against freedom of the press. President urged the concerned authorities to take strict action against the culprits and their abettors behind the happening reiterating no one would be allowed to attack freedom of the press.
