Executive Board Meeting of National Accountability Bureau (NAB)approved filing of corruption reference against Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Industrial develop ent Corporation (PIDC) Khalid Mehmood Chadda for buying 17 Kanal 6 marla land illegally and causing billion of rupee losses to national kitty.
The Executive Board meeting was chaired by Chairman NAB, Justice(R) Javed Iqbal on Thursday.
NAB has clarified the fact that the inquiries and investigations are initiated to probe the allegations, which are not binding until proved correct. NAB would verify the allegations from the concerned accused and then decide about the veracity of the allegations and decide to proceed further or otherwise.
Executive Board accorded approval for conducting an inquiry against former IG Frontier Constabulary , Baluchistan Lt Gen Ubaid Ullah Khan owing to his reported involvement in a suspicious transaction. Another such inquiry to probe suspicious transaction would also be conducted against Brig (Retd) Asad Shahzada.
The EBM approved yet another inquiry against the officers, officials of Health department Sindh, the owners/directors of Messers Almad Solutions, who are accused of corruption in illegal purchase of medical equipments, which caused Rs 377 million losses to the national kitty.
The meeting also approved investigations against Dr Ahsan Ali, Vice Chancellor and officers/officials of Khan Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan to probe alleged corruption in purchase of 161 vehicles and University’s petrol fund, causing millions of rupee losses to the national exchequer.
The board also accorded approval inquiry against officers/officials of Irrigation department to probe mal practices in awarding the contract of Ghabeer Dam, causing millions of rupee losses to national kitty.
EBM accorded approval to conducting inquiry against a broker, Qari Zulfikar Ali Sialvi, Haji Abdul Ghafoor of Model Town Daska for looting people.
The meeting approved inquiry against Chief Executive Officer Messers Baham Associates Private Limited Athar Hayat, who is accused of being involved in money laundering worth billions with the help of offshore company.
Another inquiry has also been approved against the officers/officials of Land Utilisation, Board of Revenue, Sindh and messers Fazia Housing Scheme, Karachi. The Sindh revenue officers are accused of allotting the state land to Fazia Housing Scheme, Karachi, illegally.
EBM approved inquiry against director (F & P) University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar Naek Muhammad and others to probe their involvement in the corruption in the purchase of equipments, which inflicted Rs 3200 million losses to national kitty.
Another inquiry has been ordered against former provincial minister Baluchistan Jaffar George, who is accused of corruption and abuse of authority.
EBM approved an inquiry against procurement committee, for MI 171-E Helicopter, Government of Baluchistan and others for inflicting million of rupees losses to national kitty by purchasing helicopter on higher rates as comparing to market.
The meeting also approved inquiry against former DIG,Larkana, Sian Rakhio Merani and others for having assents worth millions beyond known sources of income.
EBM approved inquiry against Sardar Atif Khan Mazari, MPA, who is accused of grabbing the state land illegally.
EBM has approved closing inquiry against former minister for excise and taxation, Sindh Giyan Chand Israni and others. The meeting passed
same orders of closure of inquiry against messers Kashar Textile
Mills Faisalabad and others owing to insufficient evidence against them.
Talking on the occasion Justice Javed iqbal said corruption is the
mother of all ills and thus its elimination is imperative. NAB
officers consider the elimination of corruption as their national responsibility. They are trying their utmost to make Pakistan corruption free.
Chairman said the inquiries, investigations and verifications should be concluded within the prescribed period of ten months.NAB was
strictly pursuing the policy of “Accountability for All.” The first and last affiliation of NAB is with Pakistan and its people. NAB officers must perform their duties in accordance with law, merit and transparency.
