Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has expressed Prime Minister Imran Khan believes in the politics of principle.
Addressing a press conference in National Press Club Islamabad on Thursday she informed that PTI has emerged as a majority party in the Senate elections, adding that it is the strength of the narrative of the Prime Minister that the PML (N) and the PPP have been confined to their provinces. She was of the view that the PML (N) could not get any seat from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
She said that the connivance of the corrupt mafia for saving their political interest has resulted in the triumph of ill-gotten money over the respect to vote in the Senate elections in Islamabad. Dr Firdous told that PM Khan fulfilled his duty of ensuring transparency in the electoral process and for this purpose approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Election Commission but the political mafia has put the last nail in the coffin of democracy by giving preference to looted money.
She regretted that the political mafia is bent upon desecrating the Upper House of the Parliament. She further said that Imran Khan is committed to exposing the black sheep in politics and the parliamentarians who sold their vote have violated the public mandate and time has come to get rid of the politics of hypocrisy.
Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan had given a big challenge to the political cabal by deciding to take a vote of confidence. She said that Maryam Nawaz who is boasting of the victory of Yousaf Raza Gillani has forgotten the defeat of her candidate. The dirty game played in the Islamabad Senate elections has proved that the founders of political corruption are very experts in achieving goals.
She said that 172 votes were required for a simple majority but the PTI candidate achieved 174 votes. Meanwhile, the ECP has failed to play its constitutional role and remained unsuccessful in following the directions of the SCP.
She claimed that the PM has decided to challenge the opposition by taking a vote of confidence and this bold step will clean bold the opposition. She said that Imran Khan will outclass the PDM in one go. The Special Assistant said that those demanding dissolution of assemblies is disrespecting the mandate of the people. She said that the use of technology is the best way to put an end to corruption and the ECP should decide about it before the election of chairman Senate.
The opposition’s dream of holding a long march through horse-trading will not be fulfilled and the government will devise its strategy after the strategy of the opposition is made public, she further said.
The Buzdar government has decided to establish a journalist colony in every divisional headquarters and the 2nd phase of the Media Town is needed in Rawalpindi. The fruits of the journalists’ friendly policies of the Punjab province will also reach the National Press Club, she said.
Responding to a question, she assured the journalists that regional newspapers would not be ignored in the forthcoming media policy saying some newspapers used to get published just on the day when received advertisement. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told the provincial government has initiated district development program expressing the concerned deputy commissioner will ensure to deliver under the program at the grassroots level.
