Supreme Court has notified the name of senior lawyer of the top court Rahib Khan Buledi as a member of Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for two years.
On 20 April 2010, 18th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the Parliament of Pakistan, which was later amended by 19th Constitutional Amendment. In pursuance of the Amendments, a JCP was proposed to be created to recommend the appointment of Judges of the Superior Courts in Pakistan.
Under Article 175 A of the Constitution of Pakistan, the JCP had been established for appointment of Judges of the Supreme Court, High Courts and the Federal Shariat Court.
The JCP consists of Chief Justice of Pakistan as Chairman, four senior most judges of the Supreme Court, one former Chief Justice or judge of the Supreme Court nominated by the Chairman in consultation with four member judges for a period of two years, the Attorney General for Pakistan, the Federal Law Minister and a senior advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council.
Registrar of the top court has notified the name of Advocate Buledi who hails from Quetta, Balochistan and enjoys good reputation among the legal fraternity and member of Pakistan Bar Council.
His tenure commenced from June 6,2022 for next two years as per the notification, issued by the Registrar Supreme Court after approval of the JCP head Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
