Honouring a Legacy: NIRC Celebrates Service of Zubair Khan and Abdul Qayyum Khan

Speakers at a farewell ceremony on Thursday in honour of two outgoing National Industrial Relations Commission members, Muhammad Zubair Khan and Abdul Qayyum Khan, applauded the Commission’s growing role in promoting industrial harmony and resolving labour disputes across Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Muhammad Salik Hussain, attended the event as the Chief Guest and lauded the NIRC’s growing reputation for prompt justice and its video link hearing system, calling it a significant step towards modernizing judicial procedures in industrial dispute resolution.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Justice (Retd.) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Chairman of the NIRC, who extended warm greetings to all distinguished guests. Both Zubair Khan and Abdul Qayyum Khan expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman, fellow members, and the NIRC staff for organizing a well-arranged and respectful event in their honour.

The event was attended by several prominent figures from the legal and judicial fraternity, including former Supreme Court Judge Justice (Retd.) Mian Shakirullah Jan, former Sindh High Court Judge Abdul Rasool Memon, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed, Secretary WWF, Abdullah, Programme Director FES, and former NIRC Members Baqir Ali Rana and Mukhtar Simon. Legal community representatives such as Syed Wajid Gilani, President Islamabad High Court Bar Association, and Naeem Ali Gujar, President Islamabad District Bar, were also present along with other distinguished lawyers and bar members.

The gathering reflected a collective appreciation of the retiring members’ contributions and reinforced the NIRC’s commitment to delivering timely and accessible justice in industrial matters.
