Lahore Court Seeks Police Report on FIR Plea Against Saba Qamar Over Uniform Video

LAHORE: Sessions Court Lahore Tuesday sought report from Old Anarkali police in response to a plea seeking registration of a criminal case against actor Saba Qamar for wearing a police uniform in a video.

A citizen of Lahore ,Waseem Zawaar has invoked jurisdiction of Sessions Court under Criminal Procedure Code 1898 seeking  directives for registration of First Information Report (FIR) against an actress who has been accused to record video while wearing uniform of Superintendent of Police(SP).

Appearing before Justice of Peace in the matter, counsel for the petitioner Advocate Mujaded Bajwa argedd saying the actress Saba Qamar had worn the uniform of a SSP and recorded a video, which amounted to a violation of the law.

The counsel contended that wearing a police uniform without authorisation was an illegal act and that the act had adversely affected the morale and image of the Punjab Police. He also apprised the court  that an application had been submitted to Old Anarkali police with subject matter to launch FIR against the accused person, adding that he alleged that concerned police refused to register the FIR.

The counsel urged the court to direct the police to take legal action and register a case against the actor in accordance with the law.

After hearing the arguments, the judge directed the police to submit a report on the matter within a week.
