ISLAMABAD: A month before the commencement of the new Judicial Year, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi visited the Supreme Court Bar Room and engaged with senior members of the legal fraternity as part of the consultative process ahead of the new term beginning on September 14.
President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Haroon ur Rashid, along with members of the Executive Committee, advocates and Advocates-on-Record, received the CJP on the occasion on August 12.
During the interaction, the Bar was briefed on the online digital services available through the Supreme Court’s Public Facilitation Centre, aimed at making court-related services more accessible, efficient and user-friendly.
The Chief Justice also apprised the Bar of the Supreme Court’s case fixation policy and the principles guiding the scheduling and prioritisation of cases. Members of the Bar appreciated the inclusive approach of the Supreme Court and welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the planning process for the new Judicial Year.
According to a press release issued by the top court, Bar members put forth valuable suggestions concerning case fixation, prioritisation and scheduling, which were noted for consideration.
The Chief Justice appreciated the constructive engagement and valuable input of the Bar, reiterating that meaningful consultation with key stakeholders is essential for developing responsive policies, improving court processes and strengthening access to justice.
The consultation forms part of a broader institutional effort to shape the priorities and operational framework for the upcoming Judicial Year through continued engagement with the Bench, Bar and other stakeholders.
