ATC grants one time exemption to Pervez Elahi from appearnce before court on medical grounds

Anti-Corruption Court Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta granted one time exemption from appearnce to former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on medical grounds so Elahi could not be indicted in the illegal recruitments case on Friday.

Counsel for Chaudhry apprised the duty Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta of the Anti-Corruption Court Parvez Elahi could not attend the proceedings on medical grounds.

At outset of hearing of the case, counsel for Pervez Elahi submitted an application before the court saying on medical grounds his client may kindly be granted exemption from appearnce before court in the matter whereas he submitted medical certificate of Elahi to substantiate his cliam for exemption. The counsel argued saying Elahi’s  doctors had advised him complete rest due to a rib fracture and underlying cardiovascular issues. Subsequently, the court, while accetping Elahi’s request for exemption from appearnce, postponed further proceedings until June 27.

The court also announced that during the next hearing, charges would be framed against Chaudhry Parvez Elahi along with other accused persons in the matter.
