FPCCI hails Pak-Afghan border opening for trade

ISLAMABAD, (TLTP): Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Saturday welcomed the opening of Pak-Afghan border to facilitate the business community of both sides.

In a statement, Vice President FPCCI Qaisar Khan Daudzai said that opening of Pak-Afghan border is a strategic step of the government of Pakistan to facilitate the business community of both sides. He appreciated the efforts of the local administration for provision of food and maintaining proper screening of the container crews of the trucks stuck up at borders due to COVID-19 issue.

The vice president FPCCI further said the local authorities on the borders should allow those containers on priority which are carrying unpreserved and pharmaceutical items; however, the health and safety measures should be properly maintained in clearance of the transport and sanitizing of the trucks and containers when it come back from Afghanistan.

In order to smoothly clearance of goods through borders, he urged proper quarantine mechanism to be established and implemented by both the governments on the borders on their end.
