Generation Gap or……….?

Perhaps, it is a generation gap or a vast experience of Pakistani politics, the people of my generation who were born between early 60s to early 70s,most of them reject Imran khan and his politics. What is the problem with this generation? Most of our youth are surprised about it. I think the issues are genuine:

One of the top issues is the fact that they are not ready to trust in Imran Khan (IK) because he has taken innumerable U-Turns from the very day he started politics. These U-Turns have  totally perverted the image,IK succeeded to establish in 2011 at Minar-e- Pakistan.

Likewise, IK has introduced a culture of personal insults, ridiculing the opponents personalities, abusive language and extremely indecent behaviour with all the people who do not extend political favour to him.  It has never been the way of politics in Pakistan. We have seen different Phases of political changes in our life but there was never a fear of insults and hatred just because of different political opinions. IK has inculcated many misconceptions in the minds of his fan club including the notion that Whosoever dislikes PTI, is definitely fan of Nawaz Sharif and consequently he should be hurled with insulting words like Patwaris etc.

They are unable to understand  the fact that  most of the people of my generation have much deeper understanding of Pakistan’s political history and regional interests of Pakistan. The fact  which they cannot even imagine!

Thirdly, whatever the PML- N and PPP did in their intermittent governments, should not  be a model for PTI. It is a very strange behaviour of IK fan club that whenever the wrongs done by IK government are mentioned, they have ready references that PPP or PML-N did the same in their periods! The question arises if PTI is on the same track  as of PPP or PML (N) then how you claim Naya Pakistan and to be different from them and why should  PTI be favoured?

Fourthly, a considerable majority of our youth is   surprised that why these people  (people of my generation ) oppose such a leader who delivers such fearless ,arrogant and “Excellent” Speeches and is going to be (according to their whims) the leader of the  Muslim World!

Actually, fans are always blind because they are fans! The people of my generation cannot be members of such a fan club as they have tasted all such things  with bitter results and are at the stage:

ذائقہ کھو دے گی ہر اک شے تمھارے واسطے – تجربوں سے تم سمندر کی طرح بھر جاؤ گے

We have had  listened many Speeches and “experienced” high but unrealistic rhetoric with damaging results for Pakistan.  Fifthly, IK’s use of so called “Islamic touch” has exposed him to the extremes. The unscrupulous use of Islamic terms like Riasat e Medina and Amr Bil Maroof w Nahi Anil Munkar and doing everything extremely contradictory to these terms has  established IK to be 0% trustworthy. Now he has gone to the extreme of Religious Fatwas against the people who do not like him and his politics. IK and everyone should never forget that the Constitution of Pakistan gives every citizen the right of vote and right of political opinion. It is never a religious issue. It is fundamental constitutional right of every citizen of Pakistan.

The question is: Are you going to lead this country  towards fascism with ” A Religious Touch”?  Sixthly, my generation understands the value and role of establishment in Pakistani politics. This value and role is an undeniable reality. Those who tried to minimise the role of establishment, they also had some limits and their emphasis have been to minimise the interference of establishment in politics and government instead of maximising this  role as IK desires and never hesitates to express this desire. On the other hand, the dirty campaign launched by PTI trollers against army has extremely  discredited IK  in our view.

Seventhly, we have seen the trailer of PTI  government of 44 months! In the months of  Feb. and March 22,the PTI ministers and MPs were unable to face the masses on roads and in streets.E ighthly, IK’s continual public Jalsas with spending millions of rupees for the success of these Jalsas (with no end results) during the days of horrific and devastating floods in Pakistan affecting more than 330 million citizens of Pakistan, have exposed his stone- heartedness and insensitivity to human sufferings just because of  his lust for power.

IK has all the rights to proceed on with his political career but he and his fan-club should understand that he is a human being like many other human beings in Pakistan! He can win hearts with principled politics, sympathy towards the citizens of Pakistan and decent language  for everyone. It was  and is a folly on part of IK to bully his opponents with the mantra of “Thieves and Dacoits” during his 44 month regime and even now. If they are  “thieves and Dacoits” as IK repeatedly brags, the courts would and will punish them. It is never the job of the Chief Executive of the country to resort to such cheap sloganeering with 0% results factually. He exploited NAB to keep his opponents behind the bars to extract sadistic pleasure with maltreating them in NAB jails. Such ventures indicate his diseased egoistic abnormalities.

At the end, cases are and will be decreed by the courts on the base of evidences and none on the base of ill- rhetoric of any sloganist. It is universally acknowledged and historically testified that;  Pride hath a fall and too much arrogance licks the dust ultimately.

We can say that Pakistan is facing the hardest  multifaceted crisis of its history. Our survival depends on surrendering to the supremacy of the Constitution of the country, Peaceful co-existance, mutual cooperation, waiting for the elections patiently and minimising the division among masses, extinguishing the fire of   hatred and honouring the constitutional procedures of transfer of power.
