PBC declares Riazat as VC and Naek as Chairman Executive Body

Apex body of the legal fraternity ‘Pakistan Bar Council’ elected Riazat Ali Sahar as its Vice-Chairman whereas Farooq Hamid Naek as Chairman Executive Committee for the year 2024-2025.

Says a press release on Monday, “ The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) apart from transacting other business on its Agenda, has elected, un-opposed, Mr. Riazat Ali Sahar as its Vice-Chairman and Mr. Farooq Hamid Naek as Chairman, Executive Committee for the year 2024-2025”.

Expressing entire legal fraternity believe in the supremacy of the Constitution, Rule of law, independence of Judiciary as well as democracy and civil authority through democratic process the PBC said, “this goal could be achieved by holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country”.

The body reiterated that the Rules of Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) be re-framed at the earliest for laying down the criteria for elevation of Judges to the superior courts. Besides, the Council demanded all political parties and their workers should avoid from character assassination of Hon’ble Judges of Superior Judiciary, they should comment only on Judgment not on Judges to save the Honour and prestige of the Supreme Court.

Lauding contributions of outgoing vice chairman and chairman executive committee Haroon-ur-Rashid and Hassan Raza Pasha respectively the Council valued their leading role during last one year.

Reiterating role of Bench and Bar to strengthen Rule of Law amid highlighting problems of general litigants in the country the Council urged Supreme Court’s fixation branch to fix ordinary case on priority basis like cases of political matter.
