PM shows commitment to facilitate masses

Expressing resolve to facilitate the common man through reforms instead of serving the elite class Prime Minister Imran Khan said the online availability of succession certificates will ease the common man’s life.

Imran Khan stated this while addressing the launching ceremony of issuance of letters of administration and succession certificates on Thursday.

Talking about the Law Ministry’s initiative, he said that through it, the government has eased the work for a common man. “I consider corrections [in the system] when it provides relief to a common citizen.” The reason behind the corrective measure is to make the life of a common man easier, he said, adding that the inheritance certificates would now be issued within 15 days.

He lamented that the land mafia illegally takes hold of their plots, as he highlighted that half of the pending cases in the courts were of land disputes. “We are trying to bring reforms and change our justice system for the better,” he said, adding that it would be another step towards providing relief to the people.

Reiterating his resolve for transforming Pakistan into a Madina-like state, he said: “In the state of Madina, monarchy did not exist.” The state was based on the principles of equality and justice, he said, adding that people do not know that it was a “modern-day state.”

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan’s criminal justice system needs to be reworked as the current setup encourages crime. He said that once the culprits face punishments for their crimes, the rates would eventually fall in the country.

“A civilized society gives a message: Crime does not pay,” he said, stressing the need for reforms in the criminal justice system.

The Law Ministry has devised a mechanism to establish Succession Facilitation Units in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the issuance of letters of administration and succession certificates within 15 days of initiation of the application by the legal heirs of the deceased. Previously, it normally took two to seven years to get a simple letter of administration or succession certificate; however, it will now take only 15 days.

Meanwhile, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr Reza Baqir called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him on the overall economic situation of the country.

The governor SBP also apprised the Prime Minister of Roshan Digital Account, stability in exports and remittances and the expected increase in them due to the government’s steps.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for continued cooperation of religious scholars to thwart the nefarious conspiracies of creating division and discord in the Muslim Ummah. He was talking to a delegation of religious scholars in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said the religious scholars have a pivotal role to transform Pakistan into a genuine Islamic welfare state. Commending the role played by the religious scholars to cope with the issues of sectarianism and extremism, the Prime Minister said the process of consultations with the religious scholars will continue in order to take their guidance to address the challenges faced by the country.

The religious scholars were appreciative of the Prime Minister for truly representing the feelings of the Pakistani nation and the entire Muslim Ummah at the forum of the UN by taking a firm stance on the sanctity of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and the issue of  Islamophobia. They hailed the Prime Minister’s categorical and unequivocal stance regarding Israel.

Alluding to the vision of the Prime Minister for transforming Pakistan as per the principles of the State of Medina, the religious scholars said they stand shoulder to shoulder with him on the matter and assured full cooperation to turn Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state. They also appreciated the government’s efforts to bring improvements in the seminaries including through lacing their curriculum as per the modern-day requirements.

Commending the government’s steps for the protection of minorities, the religious scholars said at present the minorities in Pakistan consider themselves safe but the minorities in India are not secure.

The religious scholars said the Islamic world sees Prime Minister Imran Khan as a genuine leader of the Muslim Ummah for effectively raising the issues of Islamophobia and Kashmir dispute at the world level.
