ISLAMABAD, (TLTP): Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the top anti-graft body to respond correspondence of UK Home Office relating to custody of former finance minister and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar who is on self-exile in London.
A three-member bench led by the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar sought a comprehensive report in the matter from National Accountability Bureau while hearing a case pertaining to Ishaq Dar’s assets of Rs831 million beyond known sources.
Ishaq Dar has been declared absconder as he failed to turn up before the court and was reportedly getting medical treatment in the UK.
During the course of proceedings, the court was informed that attorney general office has forwarded UK Home Office questionnaire over the possibility of sending Ishaq Dar back to Pakistan and the same was forwarded to the NAB for a response.
However, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed that Ishaq Dar cannot stay abroad under the pretext of illness.
Later, the bench issued directives to the NAB to send the reply over questionnaire to London’ Home Office and submit a report before the court during the next date of hearing.
Hearing was adjourned for a month.
