While declaring the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) exams of 2018 null and void on Thursday, the Sindh High Court (SHC), Hyderabad bench, said all the 1,783 aspirants of medical vacancies will re-appear in oral and written exams.
Announcing verdict in response to petitioners Abdullah and others, a division bench of the court comprising Justices Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Saleem Jessar has overturned the appointment of chairman and members observing examination process discourages appointments on merit.
The bench said in its order that the commission violated the Supreme Court’s decision in a suo motu notice of 2013 on anomalies on the appointment. The bench further said that the chief minister of Sindh does not have the authority to appoint the chairman and members saying political appointments cannot be impartial.
The judgement further stated that the commission members have colluded to make appointments against merit. The chairman and members are appointed without even administering oath, the bench concluded.
