Victim Traced, Suspects Held: Rawalpindi Police Act on Viral Assault Video

RAWALPINDI – Local police have taken three accused persons into custody after tracing the victim in a viral social media case involving the assault and forcible cutting of a young girl’s hair. According to police, the footage pertains to an incident that occurred approximately six weeks ago.

BBC Urdu cited Rawalpindi Police official account X on Tuesday, “the video of a girl being beaten and having her hair cut circulated widely on social media, following which the victim’s own video statement also surfaced”. After recording the victim’s statement Police have taken three suspects into custody. Police stated the girl confirmed that the incident occurred approximately six weeks ago and had not been reported to authorities earlier.

Rawalpindi Police added that they have now established contact with the victim, and legal proceedings are underway at the Naseerabad Police Station in response to the victim application. Earlier, Islamabad Police had confirmed that the incident took place about one and a half months ago within the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi, not Islamabad. Islamabad Police further stated that the victim has been located and has recorded her statement regarding the incident.

Recently, a video went viral on social media showing a girl being forcibly assaulted and having her hair cut. Social media users initially claimed that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Islamabad’s Loi Bher Police Station. However, an Islamabad Police statement clarified that during investigation, it was found that the incident actually took place in a vicinity of Rawalpindi known as Misrial Colony. Police has conducted raids at multiple locations and arrested individuals involved in the video. In her video statement, the victim said the incident occurred roughly six weeks earlier.

She alleged that a woman and a man took her to their flat located on Misrial Road, where they beat her, cut her hair, and recorded the video. The victim further claimed that afterward, they took her to a flat or spa in Bahria Town. “In Bahria Town, they also threatened me with a pistol and posturized more videos,” she said. Police have stated that the victim and the arrested suspects are being handed over to the relevant Rawalpindi authorities for further legal action.
