SHC Gets Acting Chief Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput

He will serve until the Judicial Commission of Pakistan appoints a permanent CJ

KARACHI – Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput has been sworn in as the acting chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) following the retirement of former Chief Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar.

The oath-taking ceremony was held in Karachi, where senior Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro administered the oath. The event was attended by various judges, legal professionals, and Provincial Law Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar. Justice Rajput will hold the position until the Judicial Commission of Pakistan makes a permanent appointment for the role.

According to his official profile, Justice Rajput was born on October 16, 1965, in Hyderabad. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, an LL.B., and a Master’s in International Relations. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Sindh Bar Council in 1990 and became an Advocate of the High Court in 2001. His judicial career began in 1993 when he was selected as a Judicial Magistrate. He was later promoted to Senior Civil Judge and Assistant Sessions Judge in 2000. Throughout his service, he has participated in several judicial training courses.
