LAHORE – The Punjab government, which governs Pakistan’s most populous province, has achieved a major milestone in enhancing national security by launching Pakistan’s first-ever mobile Counterterrorism Department (CTD). This innovative unit is designed to function as a fully equipped, on-the-go counterterrorism office, significantly bolstering real-time monitoring and coordination capabilities in dynamic and challenging environments.
The state-of-the-art mobile van is packed with cutting-edge technology, allowing authorities to efficiently manage and oversee security operations, particularly in difficult-to-access or emergency-prone areas. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan’s overall counterterrorism response and ensuring faster response times during critical incidents.
“Pakistan’s first mobile Counterterrorism Department is now on the move. This van will function as a fully equipped counterterrorism office on the go, enabling real-time monitoring of security operations in challenging and unusual situations,” a government representative stated, adding that “Punjab continues to lead the way and set new benchmarks in technology and innovation.”

In a separate development, a crucial meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held under the chairmanship of Khawaja Salman Rafique. Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Sohaib Ahmed Bhurt, along with relevant officials, attended the session. The primary focus of the meeting was a comprehensive review of the ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal weapons from the province. The committee discussed the progress of the current crackdown on illegal arms and issued directives to relevant authorities to intensify their operations.
